Personal Injury Attorney
Mark J. King, IV
Growing up with a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps in law enforcement, Mark’s journey took an unexpected turn when he worked as a law firm runner during college..
Having gained insight into the legal profession, Mark discovered the transformative impact lawyers could have on people’s lives. Motivated by a desire to challenge himself and make a difference, he pursued a legal career. Mark successfully passed the LSAT, entered law school, and in 1997, became the first lawyer in his family upon passing the bar.
Mark’s early years in the legal field were marked by a unique experience with an insurance defense law firm. For approximately five years, he delved into the inner workings of insurance companies, witnessing their tactics to avoid paying claims through deceptive and profit-driven schemes. However, a personal incident involving his mother’s car accident opened Mark’s eyes to the unjust practices of insurance companies.
Despite obvious injury at the scene, the insurance company for the other driver denied and fought her claim due to the lack of visible vehicle damage using a tactic that is still used by most insurance companies to some extent to this day.
It was then that Mark became determined to fight for justice and help those injured, and he shifted his focus from aiding insurance companies to representing individuals. He tirelessly pursued justice, securing a million-dollar settlement against a local bus transit company. This landmark case exposed and rectified dangerous highway passenger bus stop drop-offs, leading to significant changes in bus stop design and construction.
Mark’s commitment to justice was further evident as he argued before the Washington State Supreme Court in a lawsuit against an insurance company for violating the Fair Insurance Conduct Act. His advocacy aimed to ensure fairness and uphold the rights of those seeking insurance claims.
Beyond the courtroom, Mark’s love for the outdoors is a defining aspect of his life. Whether ATV riding, spending time in the mountains, or engaging in activities like gold panning, Mark finds solace and enjoyment in nature. His passion extends to exploring new avenues, such as winter UTV riding with tracks, to expand his ATV riding season.
Clients commend Mark for going above and beyond the call of duty, describing him as a fierce advocate who secures outcomes that positively impact and change lives. Mark finds motivation in working alongside a group of passionate attorneys and support staff who share a common goal – tirelessly working to achieve the best outcomes for their clients.
Mark’s extensive experience in personal injury claims, coupled with insights from insurance defense work, uniquely positions him to maximize his clients’ recoveries. Throughout his career, Mark remains steadfast in his commitment to justice and the well-being of those he represents.
